Co-op Members, Please Vote Today for Your Board of Directors

Dear Members,

As your general manager, I would like to ask you to do something important for me today if you have not done so already:

Please vote for your Co-op Board of Directors.

One of the many things I appreciate about a cooperative is the egalitarian nature of a member-elected board. Board membership takes a great deal of time and energy, and carries with it a number of important fiduciary responsibilities.

As someone who has worked with many different boards over a long career in finance, and here at the Co-op, let me offer a few reasons why voting for your board is so important.

First and foremost, every vote counts. All elections need to have at least 500 votes.

Second, board membership gives you—the members of a cooperative—a strong voice in how your business is directed. That is a unique and powerful thing.

Third, cooperative leadership in a democracy is indispensable. There will always be people who have a vested interest in attacking the integrity of the democratic process. It is up to us to show, through action and example, that we value our own cooperative democracies.

Finally, our teams have done everything possible to make voting fast, easy, and accessible. A huge amount of work and creativity takes place behind the scenes to make it possible. We offer fast and secure online voting, as well as paper ballots in each location. In the time it takes to read this paragraph, you can vote online at mycoopvote.com.

If you are a Co-op member, please join me and vote.
The election runs through April 30.
We will count the votes early the morning of May 1.

To all of our members, thank you for your consideration, and please feel free to reach out to me anytime. In the meantime, remember to be kind to one another and to yourselves, and we look forward to serving you in our stores and at the curbside.

Onward and upward,

Thanks,

Paul
