Dear Co-op members,
The upcoming Co-op Annual Meeting on April 1 will be my first. Will you be there? I’ve heard that numerous Co-op employees and members make a point of coming to the meeting to both listen and contribute. That’s fantastic and one of the reasons our business is growing stronger.
Some of you know that the charitable organization Willing Hands might not exist if it weren’t for a Hanover Co-op employee coming to the 2004 Annual Meeting and challenging management and his fellow employees to find a way to divert blemished produce to people in need. That employee was Peter Phippen—someone I’ve never met, but admire greatly.
The theme of this year’s meeting is “A Seat at The Table.” Sixteen tables will feature plenty of delicious food and a chance to mingle with fellow staff and members. It’s a great opportunity to share your ideas about our cooperative. The highlight of the Annual Meeting will be a presentation by Vermont Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman, speaking on the topic of Co-ops: Healthy Food, Healthy Economy. While you’re there, meet the candidates for our Board of Directors and hear their ideas about leading our organization into the future.
So, please consider coming to the upcoming Annual Meeting. Co-op employees and members are the heart of our business. Your insights and suggestions matter to me. And years from now, we might be telling stories about the great idea you shared at the 2017 Co-op Annual Meeting.
I look forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting! In the meantime, if you want to talk, reach out to me anytime. My door is always open to you.
