When and Where to Get a Highly Sought-After Vermont Beer

by John Holmes

Lawson’s Sip of Sunshine has certainly been a shining example of great things happening in the White River Junction Co-op.

It has been an almost two-year process, but we were finally able to commit to this highly sought-after IPA. It has gained traction in the beer world, much like Heady Topper from the Alchemist Brewery in Stowe, Vermont.

Located in Warren, Vermont, Lawson’s is another example of how Vermont does beer the right way. The beer is brewed in small batches, and is shipped with a very strategic delivery schedule. In the world of microbrews and IPAs, there is no real rhyme or reason why a beer becomes so popular. It really is all about word of mouth. The beer gods have given us great responsibility, and it is our job to spread the good pour.

Co-op staff use their finely honed cooperative skills to decide who gets the beer.
Deliveries every other Monday. Next delivery, Monday, March 20. Woot!

The hype is real. I cannot believe how smooth it is for an 8% IPA. The notes of citrus and tropical fruit invite you to forget we are still stuck in a wintry wonderland, and whisks your mind into paradise. From start to finish, this beer is unlike any other IPA I have had. It invites you to have another sip before you finish the first.

Unfortunately for all of the beer aficionados out there, we are only able to get a delivery every two weeks. The good news, however, is that we get an entire pallet of it! That translates to 70 cases of this luminous can of delight!

The good: It’s delivered every other Monday starting between 11:00 and 12:00. Next delivery—Monday, March 20, 2017. The bad: It doesn’t stay in stock for more than 24 hours.

This means that we get phone calls every day asking when we are going to have it again, and people lining up to grab a case before it can even be put out on the sales floor. Tell all of your friends! And we hope to see you at the White River Junction store soon to grab your case of the heavenly Sip of Sunshine!
