Members, We’re Changing A Few Things. Here’s Why.

Dear Members,

Last Friday, you might have noticed we rolled out a change in the bulk department: new numbers. Some of these numbers have been the same for decades. You might even have the numbers of your favorite nuts, dried fruits, granolas, and other goodies (chocolate covered coconut!) memorized. Then one day they all change. What gives, right? Is there no justice? Who messed with my granola?!

There’s a good reason for the change. As you may have heard from our General Manager Ed Fox, our Co-op is investing in technology to bring our systems up to date. Most of what’s changing is behind the scenes, so you probably won’t notice a lot of it. The cool thing about this system, though, is once we get the behind-the-scenes changes made, it will allow us to do a bunch of awesome stuff like keep products on the shelf without missing a beat, email you your receipts, speed up our return process, and much more. Most importantly, the new technology will free us up to help take care of customers instead of taking care of our antiquated systems.

As we work behind the scenes over the next few months, you may start to notice other changes, too. We’re very excited about all the new things we’ll be able to offer our members and shoppers and we’ll keep you updated how it will impact you as we continue building the system (so keep checking back).

In the meantime, thank you so much for your patience! We don’t expect any of these changes to disrupt customers but new systems can have unexpected bumps in the road. During the month of August, we plan to ‘flip the switch’ on our systems so that means all of the employees at our Co-op will be working hard to bring the new system online. It’s important to me to keep you posted about what’s going on and to create a space where you can feel comfortable asking questions and offering input. I would love to hear from you if you have any feedback for us! Contact Member Services staff by emailing memberservices@coopfoodstore.com.

See you in the bulk department (where I’ll be memorizing the new number for chocolate covered coconut)!
